About Us
Our Walking Football Club
Our Walking Club started several years ago in 2015 and has been evolving ever since.

Meeting on a regular basis for social interaction and to enjoy football over the age of 50, the group soon started to grow. On Monday mornings news of its popularity spread and we now have over 40 regular members coming from a wide catchment area to play. Supporting players who still work, an additional session was added on Wednesday evenings which has also grown in popularity.

At present we have players coming from Bridport in the east to Honiton in the west and, from Ilminster in the north to Sidmouth in the south.

We enjoy organising local tournaments which often end with a BBQ in the summer and a pint at the Lamb pub.
Nicknamed AWFUL, which is not a reflection on our standard of play, it came from the early days and stands for Axminster Walking Football Useless Layabouts. The group likes the name as it represents the fun element of the club.
The club expects players to be non-judgmental and have a supportive attitude whilst respecting the rules and officials who referee the games.

More recently the club has affiliated with Axminster FC to enable our players to compete in other competitions and in the future members will be able to play in the Devon FA Walking League. Individuals are encouraged to progress their skills, train with the group and trial at county, regional and national level.
